Ooty:
Known as Queen of the Southern hill station, it was discovered by the British collector in pre independence India and later developed in to a summer resort for the people of South India. Nestled in the lap of four hills by the name of Doddabetta, Snowdon, Elk Hill, and Club Hill, it forms a part of the Nilgiri ranges. Ooty is at the confluence of the western and the eastern ghats. The earlier name of the hill station was Udhagamandalam, but the Englishmen termed it as Ooty.
In the ancient times Ooty was ruled by the Hoysalas. One of the renowned ruler of the Hoysalas who ruled this place was Vishnu Vardhana around 12th century. The place was earlier inhabited by the local tribe called Todas. Ooty came under the control of the British East India Company when a treaty was signed with Tipu Sultan at Srirangapatnam in the year 1799. Today Ooty can be seen colored with green by the plenty of tea estates that are its pride of late.

Munnar
Set amidst the Kannan Devan hills, Munnar a small hill station located on the eastern part of the state of Kerala is a major travel destination of South India. Placed at an altitude of 1524 metres above sea level, it lies 140 kilometers east of Kochi and 160kilometres from Madurai, it is famous for the lush greenery surroundings, Munnar is breathtakingly beautiful and is considered the heaven of peace and tranquility. The confluence of the three mountain streams namely the Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala makes it a wonderful hill resort of the country.
Munnar was the favourite travel destination of the erstwhile British rulers in the colonial times. Covered by an unending expanse of tea plantations with valleys and mountains, it also preserves exotic species of flora and fauna along with the rare Neelakurunji plant offering a exhilarating color to the mountain region. Next to it lies the Eravikulam National Park which is home to the endangered Nilgiri Thar seen roaming on the grasslands or climbing the undulating hills.
Kodaikanal
One of the attractive hill station in India, Kodaikanal lies amidst the natural beauty of the southern crest of the upper Palani hills near Madurai. The verdant Palani hills with its slippery slopes, curved rocks, never ending waterfalls, lakes provide the required serenity and pleasure to the wonder destination.
Kodaikanal preserves a unique flowering plant Neelakurunji only found there and is nature's gift to that place. The flower is seen blooming once in every 12 years, situated at a height of about 2,133m altitude and covering an area of 21.45 square kilometers, the charming hill station is the best place for the newly wedded couples and peoples who want to have peace of mind in nature's lap.
